This is one example of how the Amakuru Trust supports people in Rwanda.

In particular the 'water collection' project at the Lycee du Lac Muhazi - Phase II is now complete!!

The school is now nearly 'self sufficient' for all 800 students for the whole of the dry season.

Lycee du Lac Muhazi is a school that was set up by parents as there were no secondary schools in the immediate area. The school offers a good education in the academic curriculum areas of Accounting, Computer Studies and the vocational area of Building. They have a roll of some 800 students with the majority being orphans; students now come from all over Rwanda to attend the school.

The school is in need of many things but one of the most pressing is a shortage of water in the dry seasons.

Students have to walk over 3 miles to collect water from a nearby lake during these times. NOT ANY MORE!!

Pictured above are students already collecting water from Tank 2 - and below each of the four tanks in situ! Apart from collecting water from the skies (Tank 4) is now linked to the new govt. water delivery service.
